Lonavala Trek & Biking, Maharastra, India (with photos)

Lonavala (Marathi: लोणावळा) Maharashtra:
It was almost end of the rainy season me & my Pune friends went for this trek. Good time to visit this place is rainy season & beginning of winter.

We decided to go by bike, as always my friends are little lazy including me :) so it was already late when we started from Pune, filled petrol & started our biking towards Lonavala. Its around 65 km from Pune, an hour & a half drive by bike. The trekking actually starts from a village called Shivapur which is around 20 km from lonavala. We parked our bikes there & started our trekking.

The start of the trek was passing thru a small stream of water. Hmm, this was cool then first thing we reached is the dam (Bushi Dam) It was nice to see the dam as it was almost end of rainy season the dam was full. We took a break here, had snacks - vada pav, hmm so tasty :)

Then we went on trekking on this beautiful green stretch, the climate was too good, it was a little humid though.

All the way we were able to see water streams, lakes & green mountains, it was really nice.

It was after, in the hot sun, we reached a small water falls could'nt get the name of the falls :( As it was too hot, we could'nt wait to jump in to the water falls. Wow, after sitting down the falls it was so relaxing !! Spent a lot of time there, did'nt want to leave that place.

There was a small tea shop there, we had hot tea with vada pav in the water falls. After playing enough time in water, we decided to move on ..

We then came back to Shivapur where we had parked our bikes. Our next destination was Amby valley Lions point. Bike riding was too good, it was lightly drizziling & this made our biking experience wonderful will all good roads in the mountains, it was really awesome. We then reached Lion Point, since the weather was cloudy the visibility was not that great, here are the photos taken from this view point.

There were lot of tea shops preparing hot pakodas & snacks. Sitting on a chair in this view point facing towards the valley looking a the beautiful nature in the evening & having hot pakodas, vada pavs, man I can't forget this ! It was a great experience. Feel like going there again :) Since it was already late we though of returning back, on the way back this was one of the nice picture of the Mumbai - Pune Expressway.

We stopped for a while in a small park on the way back, the view from this was also awesome. I heard somebody saying that the movie Taal's shooting was taken in this place, see the photo below. I too feel that the song Taal se taal mila song's scenery matches this scenery.

After getting down this valley we reached lonavala. Took Lonavala's Chikki (very popular), different variety of chikkis .. it was very tasty. It was already dark when we left Lonavala, we reached Pune at around 7:30 PM. Since we went late we missed a lot of places like Koraigad Fort, Amby Valley & few other places. But the trip was very good, we enjoyed & had fun.
