Om Beach, Gokarna, Karnataka, India (with photos)

Om Beach (Kannada: ಓಂ ಬೀಚ್) is located near Gokarna (ಗೋಕರ್ಣ) village in the Uttara Kannada District of the Indian state of Karnataka. The beach is named Om because if seen from top it resembles the Hindu spiritual symbol "Om" ( ). This beach is one of the best beach in India with a nice view & it also has some water sports activities like surfing, motor boat. It also attracts a lot of foreign tourists. Good time to visit this beach is Sept - Feb. In summers it'll be too hot & in rainy season it'll be raining most of the times. So the best time to visit is during winters.

Getting there:

Om Beach is around 8 km from Gokarna village by road. There is a tar road & vehicles can go till Om Beach. If you walk on the sea coast from Gokarna Beach towards the south, then its around 2-3 km.

By Road :
From Bengaluru to Gokarna there are multiple ways ...

1) Bengaluru - Gokarna : 485 km (Via Davangere - Ranebennur - Haveri - Sirsi)
Route: (Bengaluru - Tumkur - Chitradurga - Davangere - Ranebennur - Haveri - Sirsi - Kumta - Gokarna)
No need to go till Kumta, before around 6-8 km, there is a right turn towards Karwar, after going around 3-4 km in that road it will touch NH17 & you hit a place/junction called Mirjan. Take a right towards Karwar on NH17. From here after around 12 km you need to take a left towards Gokarna. There are enough sign boards all along the road.

2) Bengaluru - Gokarna : 485 km (Via Shivamogga - Sagar - Honnavar)
Route: (Bengaluru - Tumkur - Tiptur - Arsikere - Birur - Tarikere - Shivamogga - Sagar - Honnavar - Kumta - Gokarna)

Karwar to Gokarna is around 60 km
Hubli to Gokarna is around 140 km
Mangalore to Gokarna is around 230 km
Udupi to Gokarna is around 175 km
Shivamogga to Gokarna is around 200 km
